What is Simcoe Terrace Retirement Centre?
Simcoe Terrace is a Seniors Residence for those who desire a more carefree lifestyle, free from the traditional responsibilities of maintaining a private home and maintaining their independence.

What type of accommodation is available?
Private and semi-private suites are available. Each suite features a private 4-piece bath. We offer several types of accommodation packages. The Administrator/Director of Resident Care will explain the options available to meet your needs.

I would like my family to see Simcoe Terrace. Is this possible?
We would be pleased to arrange a complete tour of Simcoe Terrace for you and your family. Arrangements can be made, by contacting the Receptionist, Administrative Assistant, Administrator/Director of Resident Care for an appointment.

I'd like to move in. How do I do this?
A confidential interview/assessment will be arranged at your convenience, once Simcoe Terrace has received the following information:

  • application for admission by the Director of Resident Care
  • medical history per physician

Detailed information on the various options available will be discussed with you. The Administrator/Director of Resident Care will conduct the assessment/interview.

Once the Administrator/Director of Resident Care has completed the assessment, and arrangements for the selection of your suite is confirmed, you can finalize your move.

What else can you tell me about Simcoe Terrace?

Personal Furnishings - Residents are encouraged to bring personal furniture items. Of course, our basic furnishings are available instead of, or in combination with your own items. Suites are provided with the following items:

  • one set of curtains
  • headboard, boxspring, mattress
  • round reading table
  • one shower curtain
  • one night table
  • wall mirror
  • desk and chair

Linens and Bedding - Bedding and linen is provided (continental twin beds only).

Telephone Service - One Bell Canada telephone jack is installed in each suite. Arrangements for phoneservice must be made by the Resident or family, prior to the day of admission. The cost of telephone service is borne by the Resident, or in the the case of two non-related Residents sharing a semiprivate suite, the cost is borne separately by the two Residents, with each resident paying their own telephone charges. The cost of any additional telephone jacks is the resident's or family's responsibility.

Cable TV Service - Cable TV is available at Simcoe Terrace, however installation and monthly charges are the responsibility of the Resident.

Safety & Security - Each resident is provided with a key to their suite. Residents and family will be assured knowing that Simcoe Terrace provides around the clock staffing and an alarm system to ensure security.

Parking - A limited number of unreserved parking spaces are available. There is no charge for parking.

Recreational Space - Two comfortable lounges and a library are available, in addition to a main floor lounge, for the comfort and enjoyment of our Residents.

Smoking - Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building. Smoking is permitted at the designated backyard smoking area. Smoking is not permitted at the front entrance area.

Laundry Services - Simcoe Terrace launders bedding, linen and personal laundry in our central laundry room. Personal laundry is done individually for each resident.

Housekeeping Services - Suites are thoroughly cleaned once a week. Bed linens are changed weekly on cleaning days. Fresh towels and face cloths are provided daily.

Maintenance Services - Minor maintenance services, such as hanging pictures, changing light bulb and small repairs can be arranged through the business office.

Stamps - Stamps can be purchased or charged to the Resident's account through the business office.

Library - The Residents operate their own Library, located in the North West Lounge on the second floor. A wide selection of reading material, including large print books, are available for Resident use.

Mail - Mail is picked up and delivered daily Monday to Friday. Each Resident has their own mail slot.

Air Conditioning - The main floor lounge, dining room, activity room and common areas on the 2nd floor are air conditioned for the Residents comfort. Simcoe Terrace does not maintain Resident's air conditioners and is not responsible for their removal or installation. A monthly surcharge is applied from the time the air conditioner is installed until it is removed to cover the additional hydro usage.

How will I remember all of this information when I move in?
A representative of our Resident's Council will greet you shortly after admission, to assist you in finding your way to meals and activities, and to introduce you to other Residents. The Resident's Council Meetings are held once a month. The meeting is open to all residents of Simcoe Terrace Retirement Centre. The purpose of the Resident Council is to give Residents greater participation in the affairs within the home. The Resident's Council are free to make suggestions for improvements to assist the administration and management in providing better services and programs. Of course, staff are always available to assist you in any way. A Residency agreement is signed when or before you move in.
